The Monster

I never meant

to fight you,

only the demon

lurking behind you,

filling your shadow,

blinding my vision.

My apologies.

I didn’t want

it to blind you, too.

Didn’t want

it

to be what defined

us.

But I

can’t expect you

to understand something

you can’t see

or touch

as if

the monster

was real

to anyone

but me.
